            Earpeggio Summary:

I chose Earpeggio as my app for the first Smackdown Assignment. Earpeggio is an ear
training app that lets you improve your musical hearing. It is designed to help you improve your ability to identify musical elements like intervals, chords, scales, and rhythms purely by ear. It offers a wide variety of exercises such as chord progressions, melody dictation, and interval comparison. I will use this app for my career because I am interested in teaching music and giving music lessons. This app will be perfect to give to students so they can independently practice and hone up on their skills before their lesson. I can also use the leaderboards tab to network with students and keep track of their progress and study sessions.

Earpeggio is a very customizable app and can be geared towards beginner musicians or experienced musicians because of the wide variety of skills to practice. There are easy skills such as basic melodic dictation and difficult skills such as harmonic compound interval identification, making it a versatile tool for musicians at any skill level. The app allows users to track their progress through detailed statistics and customize their practice sessions, ensuring that each user can work at their own specific pace and choose the areas in which they need improvement.

  2. I love that you’re considering using this app to promote independent practice among your students. Encouraging them to engage with the material outside of lessons will likely enhance the learning experience. I also think the leaderboards feature is an innovative way to foster a sense of community and healthy competition among your students. It could motivate them to practice more frequently and strive for improvement.

  5. This app seems like an amazing way to have your students hold themselves to a musical standard when you're not hovering over them. I always found that with smartmusic or bandlab assignments that you could kind of BS your way through them as an instrumentalist in some way or another. But, this app is going to create accountability in students that have trouble getting in the habit of practicing at home.
